We have just returned from our fourth holiday put together by Sue at Tracks Safaris.  Due to the success of the previous three we did not consider going elsewhere for our arrangements this time.  We get a really personal service tailored to our interests and requirements from an expert who takes the  time to understand what we would like to see and do.

Our trip far exceeded any expectations we might have started with.  Our wildlife encounters were outstanding with numerous tigers, leopards, sloth bears, gharials and amazing birds.  The naturalists at the lodges were the best and their expertise made such a difference to the quality of the sightings and our experience overall. Additionally all the food and accommodation were lovely and all our transfers ran like clockwork.  All in all a fabulous trip and we cannot recommend Tracks Safaris highly enough.

Jo and Mark – India

Like so many other people we are very pleased we contacted Sue at Tracks Safaris to sort out our second safari trip to Tanzania.  She had done such a brilliant job the first time and we had the trip of a lifetime then.  This one was going to have a slightly different itinerary and Sue did not disappoint.  We had the same guide, so renewing a friendship developed a few years ago.

Do not hesitate to ask Sue about anything you want on your holiday.  She has a real knack of meeting desires and keeping to budget.  She is also very good at sorting out last-minute hiccups.   We would recommend Tracks safaris to anyone contemplating a safari.

Liz and Bob – Tanzania

We went to Kenya on safari in February 2024 and had an unbelievably wonderful time.

Tracks Safaris offers a real personal touch in so many ways.  Sue listened and tailored our safari to our request and budget.  She is so knowledgeable and advised us on our options.  Sue was patient and answered all our questions – a huge sincere thank you!

Booking with Tracks Safaris meant we didn’t have to think about all the details  e.g. vehicles, which game parks to visit, the guide etc.  The itinerary ensured we stayed in a range of places and meant we saw every animal possible during our stay.

The company that took care of us whilst in Kenya were wonderful. Our driver/guide was professional and kind.  The highlights were of course were seeing the animals, at times we got very close and even got to walk with zebras and giraffes. We stayed in some stunning locations such as Sentrim Elementaita which is situated by a beautiful lake.

We highly recommend going on safari and booking with Tracks Safaris, so much so that we are looking forward to booking our next safari to Tanzania.

Thank you Sue and Tracks Safaris!

Karim, Karl and Miriam – Kenya

If we were ever to track gorillas and chimpanzees it had to be soon! On the recommendation of friends we contacted Sue at Track Safaris. An excellent itinerary for Uganda was put in place despite changes due to Foreign Office intervention. We saw everything we hoped for, and more.  The accommodation was amazing and our driver/guide full of knowledge about the wildlife.  Thank you Sue, for all your help.

Derek and Cathy Brown – Uganda

This was our first safari and our first trip organised by Track Safaris. We chose Sue’s company upon the recommendation of a friend and we were certainly not disappointed. Our trip went to three camps in Botswana – desert, delta and riverside – all excellent. All of the travel went like clockwork and the camps were fantastic – great staff, great guides and great accommodation and we saw so much. We were keen to see all the wildlife especially birds and the guides made sure they tailored our game drives to ensure this.

Thanks Sue for a wonderful trip – we are already thinking about another one.

Sarah and Andy – Botswana – November 2023

A 5 Star service from beginning to end from a knowledgeable Company who tailor holidays to meet your dreams.  From initial information, booking accommodation, expert guides and transfers between Game Parks, Track Safaris couldn’t have been more helpful.  Extremely efficient in helping us to reorganise our itinerary, whilst on route, to accommodate last minute Foreign Office travel advice. Would highly recommend.

Geoff & Hayley Sinnerton – Kenya and Uganda

Thanks to Sue at Tracks Safaris for arranging a really great holiday for us to Tanzania. It was an amazing experience; everything and more than we hoped it would be.

Sarah & Stephen – Tanzania

We have been wanting to travel to Namibia for a number of years, 2023 was our ‘now or never’ moment , so we decided to treat ourselves to an adventure for both our special ‘0’ birthdays.

We travelled to Destinations in London in February which is where we met Sue. She was very friendly and we discussed our initial thoughts, we wanted a self drive holiday of 3-4 weeks in duration covering north and south Namibia. Shortly after the show we received a detailed itinerary and after some further discussions finalised our holiday plans.

Our trip took us from Windhoek south to the Kalahari, then journeying on to a stop at the edge of the Fish River Canyon (WOW …..what views), west to Aus and Luderitz (the Kolmanskop Ghost Town is a must), through the Namib Naukluft Desert (amazing colours of yellow, and orange), on to Sossusvlei (yes we climbed the Big Daddy sand dune). In Swakopmund we enjoyed a catamaran trip (a pelican landed on the boat) and thoroughly enjoyed our time in a 4×4 driving up and down the dunes in Sandwich Bay. Further north in Twyfelfontein we had encounters with the desert elephants and marvelled at the San Rock paintings.

Our four nights around Etosha enabled us to tick everything off our personal safari bingo list!  What a diverse range of creatures from the large (elephants, giraffe) to the small and very cute dik-diks. Our journey took us on to Okonjima where our Leopard Tracking activity brought us within a few meters away from this beautiful cat.

It was all thanks to Sue that we enjoyed such a varied and successful trip. We had many questions before embarking on this adventure and Sue did not hesitate to give us her time to answer them, providing such a personal, friendly and knowledgeable service. Even throughout the duration of the trip we knew we had support should we encounter any problems. At the end when heading back to the airport we wished we could have done it all again.

Sue, Thank you SO much, did I mention we had an AMAZING time ! We will be heading back to Tracks Safaris to see you again at London Destinations in 2024.

Carol and Brent Ware – Namibia

In September for our 38th wedding anniversary we went to South Africa with Tracks Safaris for the second time. We had a lovely time, the scenery was very dramatic and the safari was excellent at Shamwari Game Reserve.  All the staff were very helpful and friendly. Despite the weather, it was a beautiful place and Sue and her team did  a lot of work to make everything as perfect as possible, especially as l am disabled.

Lisa and Gordon – South Africa

As a solo female traveller, it is vital that my tour operator listens and that we work collaboratively. I went to the Destinations Travel Show in London specifically looking for a new tour operator and as soon as I met Sue, I was taken with her knowledge, passion and generosity in the time that she afforded me. She listened to my thoughts on Ruaha and the type of camps that I prefer (no swimming pools, no spas !) and promised to come back to me with costings.

She cut no corners with her proposals and gave me several options, all of which perfectly met the brief and between us we decided on an Asilia Africa package of Usangu Expeditions and Kwihala. After the booking was made, Sue updated me every time there were changes to flight schedules etc. and again, was never lazy in the work that she did for me. I never felt that corners were being cut. There were always options, even when I hadn’t asked for them.

Being in a service profession myself, the highest compliment that I can pay Sue is that she made me feel like I was the most valued client in the world. If you are looking for a personal service from an incredibly knowledgeable, generous and professional tour operator then I really cannot recommend Tracks Safaris highly enough.

Linda – Southern Tanzania

This is our third trip that Sue has organised for us and yet again has given us a trip full of amazing memories.  Our safari was for 10 nights covering Tarangire National Park, Lake Manyara, Ngorongora Crater, Central and North Serengeti. We stayed in three camps and one lodge. All of which were very comfortable, even supplying electric blanket and hot water bottles on the colder nights!

Sue listens to your wish list and always come up with a marvellous trip completely tailored for you. We saw every animal including a black rhino and baby elephants chasing the birds! Lions eating a buffalo, forty hippos in a very smelly pool with accompanying sounds. Thankyou Sue,  see you at the Destination Show next year.

Roy, Helen and Abigail

My mate Phil called me Monday and said “we need an adventure”, within a week Sue had built us a great holiday incorporating sightseeing, a traditional safari and a kayaking trip on the Okavango.  Throughout she was highly responsive, both in organising the trip, supporting our preparation and making herself available to answer questions whilst we were travelling.

We could not recommend Tracks and Sue highly enough and would encourage everyone to get out there and have an adventure!

Tim and Phil – Zimbabwe and Botswana

Soon after becoming engaged I had my heart set on getting married whilst on safari. I approached many safari travel agents and was turned away on the basis a legal wedding ceremony was too difficult to arrange. That was until Sue picked up the phone! She reassured me that this was in fact possible and we discussed a couple of destinations before deciding on Uganda. Sue came up with an amazing jam-packed itinerary which meant we got so much out of our short time in Uganda. Sue was very responsive and easy to contact throughout with regards to arranging our wedding paperwork and any other questions along the way. Our wedding day was truly unforgettable and the whole trip a trip of a lifetime. All of the lodges we stayed in were incredible and far exceeded our expectations. I would not hesitate to book another safari through Sue and hope to do so in the future!

Katie and Pete Strang – Uganda wedding and honeymoon

We are experienced travellers in Southern Africa but this is the first time with Tracks Safaris who we met at Destinations Travel Show. From start to finish nothing was too much trouble for Sue, she listened to what we wanted to do and came up trumps.

Our trip to Northern Tanzania/Zanzibar was faultless. Our driver/guide was excellent and our game viewing was mind blowing. We knew we were too early in the year to see the migration across the Mara River but were not prepared to see the start of the march north in Central Serengeti.

It was a once in a lifetime experience. Our accommodation was great – camping in Tanzania was amazing. All in all we couldn’t have asked for a better experience and would have no hesitation in recommending Tracks Safaris.

Sandra and Eric – Northern Tanzania and Zanzibar

Dear Sue – please find some of my photos taken during the superb safari you organised for me in May/June 2023.  You listened to my requests – all of which were met – thank you!

I was lucky to see some amazing wildlife – thanks again for organising!”

Jenny – South Luangwa National Park – Zambia

I have used Tracks Safaris since 2016 for safaris to Tanzania, Botswana, Kenya, Zimbabwe, NE India and NW India. All have been well organised with good local contacts, camps and guides. Sue has taken care and time to meet the briefs given.

Wildlife sightings have been amazing, including being present at the births of a Giraffe and a Hippo, a Leopard mother with cub, two Striped Hyena, a Jungle Cat and, and, and……..

How lucky we have been! Looking forward to our next  ‘Trip with Tracks’. Thank you Sue.

Linda – Zimbabwe

We have just returned from an amazing trip to the Maldives arranged by Sue at very short notice. Nothing was too much trouble. The Maldives was everything you would expect with clear turquoise waters, white sandy beaches, a warm climate and a house reef on both the islands we visited so that we could snorkel on our own from the beach. There are just so many different, colourful fish. We also had the opportunity to snorkel with manta rays and turtles. Incredible! The resorts were ideal with everything you needed and very relaxing with friendly, helpful staff. A touch of paradise! Thank you for helping to organise an amazing holiday.

Sylvia and Shane – Maldives

This was our first trip with Track Safaris.  All communications were perfect. Tickets and accommodations were very easily accessible. All accommodations were carefully selected and were stunning. First morning view of Table Mountain and the coastline, upon opening the curtains were outstanding: (Restaurant opposite; Manna Epicure, was truly delicious. Chateau Briand like we have never experienced before) Cloud 9, Cape Town.

Next stop, Stellenbosch, Spier Wine Farm: Beautiful grounds, very friendly and top class food, wine and service with accommodation to die for!!!

Oudtshoorn was next, after quite a drive through pretty desolate countryside. We stayed on a very welcoming Ostrich Farm: De Zeekoe: Fabulous pool and scenery, extremely large wonderful room, very, very reasonable wine and food.

Knysna was next on the agenda at Leisure Island, beachfront accommodation that took my breath away, beautifully decorated, thought the pool required a clean!! Fantastic meal at Nonnas, within safe walking distance. Brilliant seafood, take your own wine!!!

Amakhala Woodbury Tented Safari: Unbelievable.  Would go back in a heartbeat. Friendliest welcome, amazing staff, good food, great tent on stilts with views that will live with us forever. So many memories of the animals we were fortunate enough to see. Quite emotional. Lovely swimming pool. Loved the help yourself bar!!

Port Elizabeth; Ocean Bay Guesthouse: Great room in a very nicely designed house and lovely breakfast and accommodation.

Thank you very much Sue, we would recommend Track Safaris to anyone. Hope to use you again in the future!!

David and Janie – South Africa

We chose Track Safaris for our holiday to South Africa after being recommended from a family member and we had such an incredible time!

We started in Cape Town and travelled the Garden Route to Kariega Game Reserve where we finished with a three night safari.

Sue expertly created an itinerary for us visiting various places along the way with beautiful scenery and beaches. Everything went smoothly from the car hire to all the places we stayed at.

Our favourite part was the safari and seeing all the animals close up!

This was the holiday of a lifetime and we will remember it forever! I would definitely recommend Track Safaris and will book with them if we go back!

Thanks so much!

Stephen and Alice – South Africa

Dear Sue

Thank you for what turned out to be a truly spectacular trip. We were so impressed with Gamewatchers’ and Elewana’s organisation. Everything worked like clockwork. The internal flights were good. We had not appreciated how quick the transfers would turn out to be, enabling us nearly always to squeeze in a morning game drive before the flight and to get another game drive at our destination. I liked the way we had an opportunity to see wildlife from the moment we landed at an airstrip and during our transfer to the next camp.

The guides were all so knowledgeable. We saw a lot and learned masses. They were very responsive to our questions and interests. I had plenty of opportunity to learn a bit about photographing big animals and animals at a distance. So different from photographing insects and flowers! We were very lucky and had a guide to ourselves almost 50% of the time. Needless to say, I can’t wait to go back to Africa in the future.

I was slightly apprehensive about whether Nuala would be as interested as I was but it turned out that she also loved the whole experience. The camps were dramatically different from what we had encountered 40 yrs ago in Botswana. The food was astonishing (embarrassingly good, really) and the staff were so attentive. They seemed proud of their knowledge, their country and the service they were providing.

Hope you are keeping well, best wishes, Yealand

Yealand and Nuala – Kenya

This was the 5th Safari I have taken booked via Tracks Safaris – so that in itself tells you that I have had good experiences with Sue Preater of the Company. The organisation was good, and all pick-up arrangements worked well.

It gives you confidence as a lone traveller that you will be well looked after. Good pre-departure advice on travel needs (visa/inoculations/Covid status etc) and answered any questions I had. The Safari camps themselves suggested (Nomad Kigelia Ruha & Nomad Sand Rivers Selous) were good and with different landscapes which gave different experiences.

Very well looked after throughout by the guides and all camp staff. Overall good trip with 184 species of birds seen and a good variety of mammals. Cats were a bit lacking.  I had not appreciated how difficult it may have been to see some things in the green. However, that is nature and as I have been lucky to safari before I had perhaps got a bit complacent. So for my next trip, I will ask a few more questions about what to expect. However, I will definitely head back on safari again, and do recommend Tracks Safaris.

Jayne – Northern Tanzania

It’s impossible to put the experience of our African safari experience into a short paragraph! It was definitely the trip of a lifetime and even when I’m old, gray and in my final days, I will remember this experience. I did a lot of research regarding different tour groups and after speaking with Sue Preater numerous times (thank you for your patience, Sue!) it was clear that I had found the right place/person to book my anticipated experience.

I was originally traveling alone and a friend later decided to join me on the same itinerary. Sue coordinated our time in Africa to be seamlessly EASY and EXCITING, plus we were taken well care of every step of the way. We stayed in six different locations starting in Uganda to see the Mountain Gorillas and then off to Kenya for stays at several more traditional safari camps. It was a cozy blend of rustic and luxury…the hosts and guides at the camps were wonderfully gracious, the food was very delicious (and beautiful), the animal sightings were BEYOND AMAZING and I felt safe and pampered at each stop. I was pinching myself everyday to make sure it was all real.

I can see how people fall in love with Africa and want to go again and again. I truly believe Sue’s expertise, personal experience and attention to detail made this trip a dream come true!!

Barbara – Uganda and Kenya

I asked Tracks Safaris to try to arrange a safari in South Africa at literally no notice…Sue had perhaps three days to try to arrange a suitable itinerary that was within my budget.

It is to her huge credit that there was no sign of frustration at being asked to make the (near) impossible happen: indeed the lady’s words were, “Well if you’re serious about this, let’s make it happen!”.

And that’s exactly what she did and I can’t thank her enough: my four nights at Jackalberry Lodge were wonderful with expert and caring hosting, amazing sightings and all the small but important details taken care of.

Thank you Sue!

Simon – South Africa

Highly recommended!

Brilliant at understanding our needs and tailoring the safaris to suit. Also very flexible about changing the dates due to Covid restrictions – and holding the prices! And always available and responsive to queries. We are already planning our next Tracks Safaris adventure!

Jill and Sundran – Botswana

A year ago I had an accident in which I sustained several fractures, the most significant being a high neck fracture. During recovery my friend and myself discussed undertaking one last safari being conscious of our advancing years and abilities. We did not hesitate to approach Sue at tracks safaris having previously enjoyed a fabulous safari with them to Botswana in 2015.

Lots of discussion took place about where we wanted to go, when and price and we accepted the itinerary that Sue put together for us. We spent a total of 12 nights in Botswana with Kwando safaris, a company totally devoted to the development, training and advancement of staff in the travel industry. We visited 6 camps in total, staying two nights in each and although we thoroughly enjoyed what each camp had to offer we did find moving so often tiring and a little stressful. We saw so much from our very first game drive to the last that we were on constant highs.

We saw cheetah, lion, leopard and wild dogs kills (post chase) but still awesome sights, elephant groups, giraffes, zebra and so much more. The bird life was also amazing and we even saw a Pels Fishing Owl. Kwando staff were so knowledgeable, professional, kind and caring and we had the best of safaris. We also met other amazing travellers some of whom may well become friends for life.

So thank you Sue and your team for enabling us to have had another unforgettable trip to Africa.

Viv and Margaret – Botswana

After Sue organised an unforgettable self-drive trip to Namibia for us in 2017, we asked Sue to put together an itinerary for a trip to India which would include wildlife, culture and history.  The final itinerary was excellent, allowing to see the famous historic sights in the “Golden Triangle” of Delhi, Jaipur and Agra, with stays at fabulous safari lodges as well as learning about the Indian culture.

We were amazed at the quantity and variety of birdlife (“oh it’s just another kingfisher!”) as well as seeing reptiles such as Gharial crocodiles and close up sightings of Sloth Bears at Satpura Tiger Reserve and Tigers and Leopards at Pench National Park.

The organisation of our fairly complicated tour was faultless, with super knowledgeable city guides and naturalists and road, rail and air connections all going to plan.

Best regards,

Andrew & Kim – Central India and Rajasthan Journey

An amazing trip to Namibia, it really was an incredible experience and certainly exceeded our expectations (and certainly well worth waiting for). The variety and uniqueness of the accommodation was an absolute joy, with each having its own special character and the welcome we received was outstanding (as was the food, including the vegetarian meals). We had a marvellous time and will certainly recommend Tracks and Namibia as an amazing destination with the most diverse experiences.

Colin and Helen – Namibia and Zimbabwe Self Drive

A brilliant time, excellent guides, beautiful accommodation, saw lots of animals and birds. Very good itinerary laid out by Sue. Would recommend Tracks Safaris as they did it all!

Lisa and Gordon – Kenya Safari and Diani Beach

Sue arranged an outstanding safari holiday for us in Botswana. After getting from us a rough idea of what we wanted, and some priorities, she used her very considerable knowledge and experience of the area, coupled with empathy for what we would or wouldn’t like, to produce a very good itinerary and choice of tented camps and lodges. This was done efficiently at relatively short notice, and all the arrangements worked admirably. This has also been our experience when using her firm on previous safari trips. Strongly recommended.

Ken and Linda – Botswana

We have recently returned from a trip to Tanzania & Zanzibar organised faultlessly by Sue at Tracks. Having given her a very vague idea of what we had in mind Sue came up with a perfect itinerary encapsulating our wishlist based on her personal experience of the country and parks. Our various queries were responded to immediately and everything ran smoothly. The safari was beyond our expectations – lying in our comfortable tent and hearing lions and hyenas in the near distance but knowing we were safely protected by Masai warriors will be something I will always remember! This was our first safari and we are already trying to decide which country to explore next; wherever we choose we will be booking with Tracks, they are the best!

Ruth, Heather and Christine – Northern Tanzania and Zanzibar

A first class service

A first class service. Really helpful in helping sort out our Safari. Very informative and knowledgeable of our preferred destination, and also very friendly.

Rolf, Lesley and Jean – Namibia Self Drive

Fifty Gold Stars

There might be no words good enough for how helpful and professional Sue and the team were. From designing a honeymoon with umpteen options, to rearranging twice in Covid, to helping us change locations because of international events, to getting us travel despite an airline going bust….. the most helpful and personable team and available all the time! The honeymoon finally happened this year but was planned in 2019-20.

Georgie and Gareth – South Africa and Mauritius Honeymoon

This was our second safari organised by Sue at Tracks, our first being an unforgettable trip to Botswana and Zambia back in 2015. This time, of course, the term ‘organised’ took on a whole new meaning as the trip was originally planned for 2020, then postponed to 2021, then finally was successfully completed in 2022! Sue worked tirelessly to ensure that each time we were forced to postpone, our trip objectives and accommodations were protected for the following year. Then to cap it all, BA decided to cancel our outgoing flight completely – again Sue was able to rearrange our itinerary with no fuss.

We stayed in 3 camps – Porini Amboseli, Ilkeliani in the Mara Reserve, and Porini Lion in Olare-Motorogi Conservancy. The staff, management and guides in all of them were exemplary at all times. Food, accommodation and most importantly, the drives themselves were all perfectly planned and executed. The genuine desire of the staff to both protect and to share their environment with visitors was striking, whilst Sue and all the ground teams involved had every detail organised to perfection.

Amongst our highlights, we were fortunate enough to witness (with a small 4 hour wait!) a full scale river crossing of thousands on Wildebeest and Zebra during our stay, we encountered a young cheetah with 6 new born cubs, and we caught a few seconds clear view of a Serval. We enjoyed multiple sightings of leopard, and of course lions were plentiful wherever we looked.

It seems trite to say it, but it was certainly worth the wait for such a tremendous holiday.

Andy and Hilary – Southern Kenya

A…MAZ…ING!

What a fantastic experience our long-awaited first safari was and well worth the 3 year wait! Our first animal encounter was with five Cheetahs 15 minutes after landing on a dusty grass runway in Amboseli – WOW! what a start to the holiday and it just got better and better.

We stayed at three different Porini camps in Kenya all of which were outstanding, the staff were very friendly, the food was excellent, and nothing was too much trouble. The guides at all the camps were five-star and helped us tick off the Big 5, the Ugly 5 and pretty much everything in between, we were also treated to a very rare sighting of a Serval, 3 Honey Badgers, Bushbabies, and even a Black Mamba!

Thank you Tracks Safaris for the excellent itinerary and organisation and helping us make great memories on our Kenyan Safari adventure.

Sue, Simon, Will and Steve – Kenya

We finally got to go on our amazing trip to Zimbabwe and Mozambique after booking some 3 years ago and then being frustrated by Covid. Sue helped us build our itinerary giving us lots of options based on her extensive experience and knowledge, particularly when choosing safari lodges. She created a bespoke trip covering Victoria Falls, Hwange National Park and the beach in Mozambique.

The safari was the standout highlight staying at Nehimba Lodge – an inspired choice ! We were also impressed that Sue regularly visits places she recommends to ensure that standards are being maintained which gives you comfort that you are making the right choice when booking. We had some ups and downs with logistics changing all the time during Covid but Sue worked tirelessly to help keep the trip intact so many thanks for all your efforts.

I am sure Tracks will continue to thrive and we would definitely consider using them again for future trips and have no hesitation in recommending their services to others.

Thanks for all the work you have put in over the last few years!

Malcolm & Janet – Zimbabwe and Mozambique

I contacted Sue in January 2020, booked a Kenya Safari and then Lock-Down happened! through this time, with multiple cancellations and changes, Sue kept me informed and finally in Jan 2022, I made it to Kenya!!  I wanted to book something eco-friendly and very close to nature, and the camps recommended fitted that bill perfectly, I had a 10 day safari with 2 games drives a day, the following camps were perfect Porini Lion, Porini Mara and Porini Rhino camps, the staff and facilities were awesome, very surprised at the level of knowledge the guides and drivers had. Overall, I will definitely use Sue again, I have a few more adventures that I want do.

Max – Kenya

Sue organised us a perfect safari.  We mostly knew what we wanted, but her advice on where to stay and the fine tuning of our dream turned it into a five star reality (even if we had to wait a year!).  There was nothing we didn’t enjoy, but our highlight was the beauty and peace at Damaraland Camp, not just that we saw Desert Adapted elephants, but the staff and accommodation was second to none.  Everything was well organised – travel directions were clear and the planning was perfect.

Every lodge had something different to offer, from the watering hole at Okaukuejo to the amazing breakfasts at Onguma Bush Lodge and walking with a pangolin at Okonjima.  In the parks we did a mix of self-driving safaris (which enabled us to take our time and stop where we wanted) to guided night drives which gave us a completely different perspective.  We saw so many mammals and reptiles it was fantastic, as well as 114 species of bird!!  The experiences and memories we had of this holiday will last a lifetime.

Sue at Tracks Safaris has organised several amazing holidays for us in the past, and we know she will always produce exciting itineraries and faultless organisation, but we have never appreciated her help and support as much as we have this time.

Our recent trip to Victoria falls and Botswana was originally meant for March 2020, was reorganised for 2021 and finally took place this year! Without Sue’s negotiations with the accommodation companies and expert guidance through the minefield of PCR tests and additional documentation, we might never have got there!

We stayed at 4 camps in Zimbabwe and Botswana. All have provided us with great memories – sundowners overlooking the Zambezi, the sound of hippos and frogs in the evening in Linyanti, lion and cheetah sightings in the Okavango Delta and the magnificent Baines Baobabs and the salt pans at Nxai Pan. Accommodation and food was excellent everywhere, and staff went out of their way to ensure we had a great time.

While we saw a good range of wildlife and some beautiful birds, we weren’t lucky enough to see wild dog on this trip – so I guess we will just have to come back one day!

We visited the Destinations Show at Olympia, London in January 2020 with a specific brief to find out more about visiting Africa for our first safari. We chose Tracks Safaris as we were so impressed with Sue’s knowledge and experience on the many areas you can travel to for a safari holiday. Sue spoke to us in depth and then emailed two different, detailed itineraries for us to choose from. Both trips looked amazing. They were in Botswana and everything was included – flights, food, drinks, accommodation, transfers and guided experiences. Sue works with local tour operators and they were also exceptional in their care and service during the trip.

Due to Covid our trip was postponed but Sue kept us up-to-date with any changes and was always available to answer any questions related to our trip.
We had an amazing trip, exceeding all our expectations. We travelled during Green Season and had wonderful wildlife sightings. We saw leopards, cheetah, lion prides, male lions, rhino, water buffalo, giraffes, zebras, wild dogs, elephants and hyenas and so much more. There were too many highlights to list but we witnessed a lion hunting warthogs, a cheetah attacking a wildebeest and found a hyena den and were able to watch the interactions of the family. To experience wild animals in their natural habitat was so special and we were able to go off road enabling a more intimate experience.

The camps were brilliant and so welcoming and comfortable. All the staff were friendly and the whole set up enables great flexibility on meal times depending on what is found when out with the guides. The guides and trackers were wonderful, asking you what you want to see and ensuring you have a great time. Their eyesight is so acute they can spot animals from amazing distances even in dense grass. Their knowledge is phenomenal and there was not an animal they could not name or give a commentary on.

The whole organisation of the trip was fabulous and we felt very looked after. Nothing was too much trouble. A safari holiday is something everyone should experience. I would highly recommend Sue and her expert advice, to anyone wishing to book a safari trip.

Thank you again,

Graham and Carolyn – Botswana

We can’t thank you enough Sue for yet another superb safari experience, this time in Sri Lanka! Travelling newly post-covid restrictions meant most places were much quieter than normal and we were fortunate enough to be the only guests staying at 2 of our stops! Safaris don’t get more private than that!
We accidentally invited ourselves to the re-opening and blessing of a village temple in the mountains where the villagers insisted we ate and drank with them for good luck!

We had brilliant naturalist guide Gayan with us – as well as being a brilliant wildlife photographer he facilitated one of my wife Karen’s bucket list adventures – to travel by train, hanging out the open door from the tea plantations in the central mountains down towards Yala for our final stop. It was truly magical watching the scenery changing as we dropped altitude towards the coast!

Yala then far exceeded our expectations, and we had some brilliant sightings of leopards amongst myriad other spectacular animals and birds, including a king cobra outside our room and an elephant wandering through the hotel grounds on another evening!

We can’t wait for our next adventure and are planning again already!

Steven and Karen – Sri Lanka

"Juvenile-Shoebill-1

I can’t believe we have been home over a week already – I am still sorting photos out!
We had an enjoyable trip, and everything ran to time. The tour company was great – we were met straight from the plane by Gloria and with her guidance, we were through all the red tape of visas and covid tests before you could blink! She delivered us to Beki (our driver from the company) and Fred (a freelance birding guide) whom we spent the rest of the trip with. Our driver Beky was a very considerate driver, and the lodges were very good.
I managed both gorilla treks plus the golden monkey and chimpanzee treks – the first group of gorillas was only about 20 minutes from the office starting point and I had a full hour with them. I had a full hour with the Golden Monkeys too, but photography was a challenge as they crashed and leapt through the branches overhead only stopping to pull leaves in front of their faces just as the camera focused on them!
The chimpanzee trekking was much easier – they had just come down from feeding in the trees and were resting before becoming really active and walking off through the forest. We started with just 2 chimps but by the end we had seen around 30+. All wonderful experiences.
We also saw the Shoebill twice – once at Mabamba Swamp where we saw an almost adult-sized juvenile and then at Semliki where we saw an adult. Fabulous! Such a prehistoric looking creature. Lots of birds – almost 300 species. Fred, our birding guide was excellent at spotting and calling out the birds.
Overall, a really good trip – thank you so much for helping us to put it together.
Best wishes from us both,

We chose to use Tracks Safaris to book our 2022 self-drive holiday to South Africa, as we had previously used the company for a similar holiday to Namibia and South Africa. As previously experienced, Tracks Safaris were able to provide advice on the itinerary and working with their local tour operator in South Africa, were able to book the whole holiday for me. That included flights, car rental and accommodation.

We had originally booked the holiday back in early November 2021 but within a week or so the Omicron variant of the Coronavirus had been identified in South Africa and it appeared that the whole holiday was in jeopardy, though we were reassured that by using Tracks Safaris we would have protection under the ATOL scheme. Tracks Safaris were able to keep us informed of any changes and were fast to respond to any of the questions I had, especially around the flight situation, as Emirates Airline were slow in opening up flights to and from South Africa. Alternative, standby flights were investigated, but luckily these were not required.

Even whilst in South Africa communication with Tracks Safaris has been excellent, and issues investigated and resolved.

Tracks Safaris has a wealth of knowledge that can be utilised in both the planning and booking of all aspects of a holiday, and their network is very widespread in Africa, India and Sri Lanka. I would have no qualms in using Tracks Safaris in the future.

Thanks, Sue, for your patience and generosity in arranging and rearranging my Kenya trip four times since January 2020. I finally made it in November 2021. I had a marvellous time, with some wonderful wildlife viewing. I saw eight different cheetahs and three different leopards. The camps and guides were a delight – the guides have the most amazing eyesight and can spot animals in even quite dense cover. How, I have no idea. Everything was well-organised, and I felt looked after all the time.

Anyone wondering if they should travel alone on safari, I say go for it, you won’t regret it. Camps are welcoming and informal, and feel very safe. Sue’s expert advice was invaluable.

Thank you again,

We met at the Destinations Show in Jan 2020 and I told you what I would like for my first ever safari. You replied you knew exactly what would deliver and oh boy, did you deliver!

My Okavango Delta trip over Christmas and New year was nothing short of spectacular. The camps were fantastic, the staff and service superb, the environment astounding and the wildlife far in excess of what I had imagined. It was simply one of the best holidays I have ever had.
I stayed in the Okavango Delta, Linyanti and Nxai Pan. Each camp has a distinct character as does the surrounding conservations with a dense population of animals of all shapes sizes and type.

I saw lion, buffalo, elephant, monkeys, birds, giraffe, ostrich, zebra, wildebeest, baboons, antelope, hyena, owls, warthog, wild dogs, monitors, cheetah, hawks, civet, wildcat, leopard and more. It is not just the spotting but the action. Watching a cheetah stalk a tsessebe, kingfishers fishing, teenage elephants teasing hippos, giraffe ‘babysitting’ young zebra, impala creches, a leopard eating in a tree and even a hyena carrying a tortoise!

I also wish to thank you for managing the ever-changing Covid situation as the year progressed. Having your industry contacts providing information about borders opening, entry and exit tests, changing my itinerary to match flight amendments etc was invaluable. Without your hard work, I simply would not have got there. You only do your first safari once and you made mine better than I could have hoped for.

Thank you. Looking forward to the next one already…

Dear Sue,

Just wanted to let you know how excellent our time in Delhi has been.

We’re sitting in the Aura bar of Claridges going over our time here. It’s been madly crowded, somewhat smoky and completely wonderful.

Assif our guide has been brilliant and great fun. Your people here are extraordinary. So on the ball, they know more about what we’re doing than we do. They are outstanding.

This was my fourth trip arranged by Sue and as before she got it spot on in suggesting camps to meet my specific wildlife spotting needs.

Rhino Camp – had fantastic Rhino sightings on every drive and a good variety of other wildlife. Interesting sightings of battling Giraffe and a Baboon tree being two new ones for me.

Cheetah Camp – similarly lived up to its name with several wonderful sightings of a mum and cub. Leopard is definitely not guaranteed there but I was treated to one up a tree on several occasions. A really good variety of all sorts of game on the conservatory.

If you want to try a safari – I’d highly recommend that you talk to Sue.

Dear Seu,

I just want to thank you for organising our trip to Tanzania and Zanzibar in October. The itinerary you put together for us was perfect. I can hardly believe that you managed to arrange everything you did within my budget!

The 4-day safari at the Selous Game Reserve was full of excitement and variety with several days in the jeep and a river and walking safari. The accommodation and food was of a very high standard and could not be faulted. We had our guide Msafiri, all to ourselves and most of the time, we felt we were the only people in the Reserve! He was so knowlegable and has even sent us photos of the elusive wild dogs and leopard that we just managed to miss, after we returned home. To be honest, every day on safari was a highlight of our trip, but watching the mother and baby elephant enjoying a mud bath in the lake and listening to buffalo and elephant munching their way around our tent at 1 o’clock in the morning, are memories that will remain for a lifetime.

Our 6 days in beautiful Zanzibar at the Kachanga Lodge Hotel were an ideal end to our trip. Again, the hotel and food was superb and the staff so helpful and kind and clearly so proud of their county and happy to be sharing it with us.

I very much hope to be back in touch with you in the future when time and money allow, to book another unforgettable trip.

Hey Sue!

I did not want to disturb you over the holiday period but you beat me to it!! Happy for you to post this wherever you feel fit and of course add a five star rating.

Just to say that the trip to Rwanda was fabulous. The country itself is fascinating and is clearly progressing and growing fast.

Our trip to Magashi Camp was extraordinary with exceptional hospitality from the team especially the local personnel. The tent accommodation was first class and the food so fresh, tasty and well prepared. Needless to say the safari was of the same standard, lead by our very capable and like able team leader Adam. We saw the “big five” up close up and many more animal species.

Kigali, the capital was also very interesting and should not be missed. We would particularly recommend the Genocide Memorial Museum and the Nyamirambo Women’s Centre and the walking tour.

A great trip, thanks to your meticulous planning.

Claude and Rob – Rwanda

/wp-content/uploads/2022/07/happy_clients6.jpg

We are now back from our trip and thought we’d share some thoughts. Fabulous holiday in an extraordinary country continuing to go through challenges that we would have no idea how to start to deal with.

First thing to note is the people – overwhelmingly nice , smiling and positive ( once you get beyond the government jobsworths in the airports – getting a visa wasn’t an issue , it’s just that they are so miserable about it ( in a country with a ridiculous unemployment rate ). Other than that , everyone was a joy.

The camps were all different ( in feel , terrain ,weather , size ) but all great. Vundu at Mana Pools is a beautiful location , really suffering when we are there with no rains yet . Canoeing the Zambezi with a (too) close encounter with a hippo was a highlight .

Bush Camp was fun , middle of nowhere – how they produce food of that standard beautifully presented is beyond me ! A lion roaring outside the tent at 3 in the morning as he walked through the camp was an experience

The Hide is a bigger operation . Guide of the Tour was Theo here – an amazing personal story and we loved our interaction with him . Watching three cheetah devouring an impala doesn’t happen every day .

Zambezi Sands was good – we had the place to ourselves the first day , and joined John’s anti-poaching patrol in the morning ( and found three wire traps ) . White water rafting was great and not something we’d expected.

All logistics went well , with the exception of meeting the first small flight in Harare . They were late in coming in and had no way of contacting us . But not an issue . Flights were fun and we got to know the pilots who tended to be the same ( andcursed us for bumpy weather whenever we flew ! )

So a great trip ,so much to see , so many different environments . We spent a lot of time talking to all the guys about Zim – Economics , game , poaching , what’s the future . A fabulous trip for anyone walking to really get into what they are seeing .

Would definitely go again but there so many other places to go !

Regards – David

Hi Sue

Thank you for organising another fantastic holiday for us. The safari at Selous was amazing with excellent sightings especially of lions, elephants and wild dogs. Siwandu lodge was perfect in every way with lots of little extras and nice surprises.

Mafia Island and Fanjove had some excellent snorkelling. Fanjove private island was the perfect relaxing hideaway. We could have stayed there for much longer. Being able to snorkel from the beach was a big bonus and we saw a seahorse and many other sea creatures. Swimming with the wild dolphins was an unforgettable experience.

We will definitely return to Africa! Once again Sue thank you for organising everything.

Thank you for all the pre-holiday advice on travelling and where to stay in Namibia. It has been many years since we have used a travel company to organise our tours as I love the experience of researching venues and activities and putting together my own itinerary. But with Namibia I soon found that I needed expert help and guidance, and Tracks Safaris certainly provided that in abundance, whilst still considering my initial basic plans.

Sue certainly removed the stress I was getting when trying to join up availability of accommodation. The added assurance of ATOL protection for a first time visit and rather complex itinerary was certainly a plus point.

Sue was very helpful in getting flights from Cape Town to Windhoek reorganised when South African Airways removed the afternoon flight from their schedule. All the liaison between Sue and her operators was conducted very smoothly and efficiently and in the end the change of flight was accommodated without any problems to our itinerary. Of special importance to me was the help Sue gave in working with her operators to organise a surprise 70th birthday treat for my husband – I couldn’t have asked for a more Namibian celebration, full of happiness, music and a brilliant cake.

Unfortunately due to illness we had to adjust the start of the holiday – and whilst Sue herself was unavailable at the time to help with changing venues as soon as she found out about the issue she contacted us to make sure all was OK and that our holiday was progressing.

Even on our return from holiday Sue contacted us to make sure we had enjoyed our time in Namibia and that all had gone well.

We both thank you for your professional service and the knowledge you shared with us.

Just to let you know we had the most amazingly wonderful trip!

Our experience with Tracks Safari began with meeting Sue Preater at a travel show in London. Our group quickly warmed to her because she took on board our

goals and budget. 18 months later we were off having given Sue more information.

Tracks Safaris did not disappoint – in fact they planned a trip that was above all our expectations. It was a perfect mix in that we have 4 different accommodation types on our 10 day trip and we moved through some amazing countryside seeing wildlife in all its beauty. A trip to a school and a balloon ride and the wildebeest crossing the Mara River were highlights but so was the food, service, friendliness of all staff at the lodges.

If you want a trip of a lifetime book with Tracks Safaris, tell Sue and she will do it.

/wp-content/uploads/2022/07/happy_clients9.jpg

Hello Sue,

I’m a little late but to add to Liz’ s message we had a life changing, amazing wonderful time.

I thought your organisation was superb – it could not have gone more smoothly. The Lodges so well run and Tanzanian hospitality at its best. Zack our guide was “the best”!

Our school experience was so touching. They didn’t know we were coming and welcomed us. The impressive head told us about the 14,00 pupils and 22 teachers. Classes of 120 each teacher in two batches.

Huge thank you Sue

Jackie – Northern Tanzania

/wp-content/uploads/2022/07/happy_clients10-scaled.jpg

Hi Sue,

This was a first experience for me but Richard had been to Kenya on safari many years ago with work. At times I found it quite emotional, especially when we caught some of the migration of the wilderbeast and so pleased we did as I know this was on Liz’s tick box! Also, the balloon trip was just fantastic and again everything here ran so smoothly.

Well, as for our driver/guide Zach, he helped to make our holiday, he was such an amazing guy, so helpful, accommodating and friendly. He was an excellent driver who we felt completely safe with. Visiting a primary school was such a good idea, that was also a highlight of our trip. The people were so friendly and couldn’t do enough for us everywhere we stayed, didn’t want the trip to end!! Many tears at the airport when we said goodbye to Zach, our driver and a trip we will talk about for many months to come.

Once again Sue, thank you so much for everything – the trip was faultless.

Regards Jane and Richard – Northern Tanzania

/wp-content/uploads/2022/07/PETER-ROGERS.jpg

Dear Sue

Thank you for putting together an amazing holiday for us.

Our aim was to witness the migration and we were not disappointed.

Sentinal Mara camp was a great start with lots of viewings and good accommodation.

Kicheche bush camp was the icing on the cake, we have been to lots of camps during our trips to Africa but this was special.

Pole pole on Mafia island was the right place to relax following ten exhausting days.

Thanks for everything – Peter and Helen – Kenya and Tanzania

Dear Sue,

This is just to thank you so much for organising such a wonderful trip for me! Despite travelling alone, I really enjoyed the whole experience and was very well looked after.

Highlights were the Bayete Guest House in Victoria Falls, which was a real home from home and also served lovely home cooking, Chobe Elephant Camp (also great food) and the Saguni safari Lodge, where I was treated like royalty and the staff all came out to sing me a farewell song as I was leaving!
The game drives and river trips ( including a magically peaceful mokoro trip) were everything I has hoped for, and I saw all the animals I had longed to see in the wild including leopards and lions, each several times. Beautiful birds as well!

I definitely hope to be a repeat client with Tracks Safaris.

Once again, many thanks for a great adventure for my first safari. Africa and its people have taken a place in my heart.

Best wishes – Rosemary – Zimbabwe and Botswana

Hi Sue

Just wanted to say a big thank you for one of the most fantastic holidays we have ever had. Everything went like clockwork and the camps recommended surpassed all expectations.

I would say our highlight was the Chobe princess we had such a great time and I cought a Tiger fish! The photographic boat was brilliant and when I download my pictures I will put the shots I got of a crocadile attacking a Kudu on your site.

Pompom was wonderful but water levels are so poor. We found 3 packs of wild dogs which as you know was our number 1.

We are now thinking we must go back with water in the Delta if we can get the time and money to do it.

Hi Sue,

Just wanted to say thank you so much for arranging such a wonderful trip to Zambia.

I think that was the best wildlife holiday I’ve ever had and the choices of lodges just perfect.

The 3 sites gave completely different experiences and I saw so much including 9 leopards!!! So finally broke my leopard free spell!!

I would gladly give any feedback on the tour to any of your future clients.

Thanks so much again,

Hi Sue

We had a lovely holiday thank you! Everything went to plan – the kids all arrived into Joburg on time to start our vacation and all the flights from that point were on time which was great. We loved Botswana and the camp was very welcoming. Great staff and accommodation. We also loved Zimbabwe and our camp there – again very welcoming and lovely staff. The highlight was our youngest daughter’s partner proposed to her on the banks of the Zambezi river at sunset. His father and grandmother are from Zim and he had a beautiful diamond ring made which had Zimbabwean diamonds embedded in the shoulders – they were from his grandmother’s ring – so romantic and very thoughtful.

Then on we went to Mozambique and the delights of Bazaruto- fabulous island. It was the piece de la resistance and we loved our 4 nights there.
The thing that worked for us as one big family of adults was having everything all inclusive but to a high standard. The young men could help themselves to as much beer as they wished without having to worry about cost and likewise the girls with gin and tonics etc.

All in all the holiday was prefect and extremely memorable and I would like to thank you sincerely for your help and recommendations. I have not used you before Sue but I would recommend you to others and consider using your company again in the future so big thanks from us all!

Best Wishes

Dear Sue,

Having just returned from the amazing adventure you so kindly arranged for us, I thought I should put pen to paper to applaud you for our incredible experience in Botswana and Zimbabwe. It really was everything you promised and much much more.

The Okavango Delta was stunningly beautiful. Gliding through the beautiful narrow waterways on mokoros canoes was so peaceful and calming. Our crew of four made wild camping an absolute delight. They were all so helpful and friendly, making sure that all our needs were catered for. The guides were unbelievably knowledgeable about the wildlife and plant life. Our chef produced the most amazing meals and all on an open fire with a few pots and pans.
We saw all the varieties of animals and birds that you could possibly wish for including the one animal I hoped to see, which was the most beautiful male leopard sitting majestically on a grassy mound. It couldn’t have been more perfect. What can I say about Victoria Falls that hasn’t already been said. So awe inspiring and so powerful. Truly unforgettable.

Sue, we cannot thank Tracks Safaris enough for making our trip the perfect experience and adventure of a lifetime and one that we will remember always.

Many thanks to Track Safaris for recommending and then organising our trip to Namibia. It was everything we could have hoped for – great landscape, rare wildlife, a chance to meet wonderful people, adventure and a bit of luxury. Hello Sue,

We had a great holiday in India, all arrangements went like clockwork, and lodges, personnel and catering were excellent. We saw everything we wanted to that we had missed on our previous visit to India. Satpura was excellent for Sloth bear and was just that bit different from the others with it’s night drive and walking safari, and we unexpectedly had a private jeep for all our game drives. Pench was very beautiful, and gave us our first Tiger sighting, and excellent views of leopard. Tadoba was great for Tiger sightings, 11 individuals, including a mother and 3 beautiful cubs on the last morning, when our guide Sandesh got permission to take us to one of the quiet areas of the park, a lovely end to the trip, it was also fun to play Holi with the staff and guests at Satpura.

Many thanks for organising the whole thing, we have attached a few photos,

Best wishes,

Sue at Tracks Safaris took enormous trouble to organise everything to suit me, a solo elderly traveller. In Zambia she suggested small camps where everyone ate together, arranged wheelchair assistance at the international airports, plus steps to ease climbing into safari trucks. After three previous Africa trips, Zambia turned out to be my best ever safari with the best wildlife experience. This was helped by the remoteness of the camps, and on occasion spending drives by myself with just a guide, when we saw some of the most wonderful wildlife. Thank you Sue for all your help!

Good morning Sue,

It’s been several weeks since I arrived home from Tanzania, and I can’t get the experience out of my head. Track Safaris organized a flawless trip that made enjoying the country so easy. Our guide, Moses, was so knowledgeable and fun to be with. I learned so much every day. When I booked the Safari I had hoped to see animals out in the wild, but the diversity and abundance of what I saw amazed me. Every day was a new adventure and I never tired of the gorgeous vistas and beautiful wildlife we saw each day.

I especially appreciate the suggestion of an add on to Zanzibar. The extra few days gave us time to savor our Safari experience and totally relax before heading home.

I will use Track Safaris again.

Thank you!

Hello Sue – we have now returned from our trip which you arranged for us, probably one of the best holidays we have ever had. The accommodation was excellent and all the places were near enough each other to do things in transit and we did manage to do a lot. The weather was reasonably kind with lots of contrasts, food was exceptional particularly at Woodall Spa. Best of all was Kwandwe, we have come away with some wonderful memories and went around with permanent smiles it was all such fun, interesting, informative and utterly new experiences. The ranger and tracker we had were so good and we managed to fit in 8 game drives and even if we did not see masses of animals on occasions, there were wonderful birds, flora and general info to impart.

Thank you!

We had an amazing time in Zimbabwe, everything was well organised, with the right balance of time spent on safari, at Victoria Falls, and canoeing down the Zambezi!

The places we stayed at were all fabulous, our favourite being Somalisa Expeditions, with the closeness of the elephants being just so special.
At Big Cave Camp, Somalisa, and at Kanga the staff and guides are all so friendly and knowledgable, we felt we were leaving family when is was departure day. Batonka Guest Lodge is lovely, very relaxing and the staff again very helpful, arranging helicopter and boat trips.

The Tamarind Canoe safari was certainly an experience that I will not forget! It was incredible that we saw so many hippos and elephants so close, although not too close to the hippos! The guides were incredible.

Overall, an amazing experience, in a beautiful country. Would definitely return one day.

Many, many thanks Sue, for your impeccable organising for our holiday of a lifetime!

Thanks so much for organising our trip of a lifetime in South Africa this August. Your attention to detail and your knowledge of the country helped us to plan a perfect holiday to celebrate my 50th Birthday! You tailored the whole itinerary to suit our family – and even managed to work around a few medical issues that we had to consider. We loved all the accommodation and had some fabulous food. We were particularly impressed by Grootbos and Kwandwe reserves. Our guide Chulwani at Grootbos took us on some memorable activities including whale-watching, cave exploring, a fynbos walk, tree-planting, a tour of a township and horse-riding. Our ranger Ruan and spotter Wusi at Kwandwe couldn’t have been better – finding us all the animals (bar the elusive leopard!) and getting us close without feeling like we were imposing. Ruan was also able to give me lots of tips on photography and bird-watching as he loved those activities as much as the wildlife-spotting. I have to confess I cried when we had to leave!

I just wanted to drop you a few lines about my recent trip to Zambia you organised for me. I was first attracted by your advert in BBC wildlife magazine as it prominently states specialists in no single supplement Safari’s which as a lone traveller instantly attracted my attention amongst the other adverts. Suffice to say I was on the phone to Sue within a few minutes of reading it for what in all honesty I thought would be a rather desultry conversation like similar ones with other operators in the past and I wouldn’t do anything about it. However from phoning Thursday afternoon and being made to feel very excited about a trip to Zambia (as wild dogs were what I really wanted to see) then getting a full itinerary planned around my exact requirements by Friday morning I found myself paying a deposit on the Saturday and paying in full on the Monday!! The whole thing was brilliantly organised and fully explained and I felt fully confident in Sue’s organisation when she explained it all to me which as a single, first time traveller to Africa was important.

On reaching the 3 venues in the Luwanga valley I was blown away with it all. The flights, pick ups etc all happened as Sue promised and I felt safe and well looked after everywhere. Everyone I met whether working in the camps or fellow guests were great and all had a shared passion for wildlife. The accommodation was stunning and as it was quiet people wise, I was spoilt rotten by all the staff etc. The guides were brilliant especially when they found out after wild dogs my main passion was birdwatching and it was a constant procession of stops to point out birds especially the walking safaris. It truly was an amazing experience and I’m so glad I finally did it after years of wanting to!!

So thanks again tracks safaris and anyone reading this and thinking of using them to plan their trip I would say go for it as it will be brilliant!

well done!!!

Hi Sue

My wife Janet & I have just returned from Madagascar and your tour provided us with exactly what we wanted. We saw 19 species of Lemur including the Ring Tailed, Verraux’s Sifaka, Indri & even the Aye-Aye. The highlight for me was the Fossa, I think it’s a very difficult animal to see and having researched the likely location we asked Tracks to include Kirindy in our itinerary. We were not disappointed. The barman in Kirindy Lodge found one for us, to Janet he said “It’s under the bed, go tell your wife!” he then took us to hut 13 and sure enough it was under the bed !! We saw several during our stay including a pair mating in a tree behind the lodge.

We also had 59 of the Endemic bird species and saw much of the Madagascar countryside. We felt that we had really experienced Madagascar. Everything worked out well, the guides were good to excellent, transport was good and all flights were met on time or within 10 minutes.”

Brilliant trip we shall definitely use Tracks some time in the future!

Dear Sue,

I just wanted to say thank you for your recommendation and organising my trip – I had an excellent and relaxing time just what I needed. Having sworn never to revisit the Masai Mara because of the vast numbers of Minibuses and Landrovers surrounding every animal, I allowed myself to be pursuaded by Sue Preater to visit the Conservancies just outside the MM. What a pleasant surprise. Both camps at which we stayed – Hemingways Ol Seki and Porini Lion Camp – were excellent. Limited numbers, super staff, knowledgeable guides, comfortable digs, a willingness to accommodate your every wish, and with truly superb game viewing. I cannot fault them.

I know from much past experience that in Africa things don’t always go to plan, but transfers and travel to/from the camps, were amazingly good, apart

from one small hiccup at Wilson, with a minor 40 min delay whilst they fitted a new engine to the plane (well…a small part that needed replacing actually), timetables were adherred to. Nairobi accommodation overnight was also very satisfactory at the Boma Hotel.

Well done Sue, and to your ground agents in Kenya. I am pleased to recommend Tracks Safaris.

Just a short note to thank you for organising such a great trip for us to southern Africa.

It was the trip of a lifetime and every day was both different, special and memorable. Everything worked like clockwork – and that was certainly no accident.

Wherever we went, you seem to have successfully rolled out the special birthdays red carpet; we were rarely without bubbly and often, the local staff went to special length to make us our visit memorable where something special was provided. When the bubbly did at one stage appear to be drying up, they realised that it was my actual birthday and conflated this with one of the ‘specials’ – I was 70 all over again – and once more in the bubbly!!!
I do not know how you organised it, but a leopard cam into camp at Xigera on our last night, strutted the walkway, caused one of the guides to seek shelter in a guest’s bedroom, later joined the young woman setting out the breakfast fare but apparently did not want a ‘full English’ so left her to get on with her job. We then had about 30 minutes watching the leopard high in a tree and then trailing it through the bush. Whilst there were many highlights, this was truly a fitting finale.

Thank you again on behalf of us all for putting together such a good and well balanced itinerary. It was worth every penny!!

Ros and I cannot thank you enough for the holiday that you arranged for us, firstly in Zambia then Botswana especially the Okavango Delta. It was more than we hoped for and better. The guides and trackers were superb and the camps with such a wide cosmopolitan range of fellow travellers made the whole experience unforgettable. Thank you from us both.

We had a super time on the holiday – everything was perfect and the logistics all went according to plan. I don’t think we could fault anything. It was a one off holiday and it became a one off experience because it was so good.

The wildlife was amazing – within 30 mins of turning up at Tena Tena we had seen a leopard across the river bank and went on to have 7 sightings, which in a week was something special. This included one leopard up a tree in daylight.

We had a visit from 3 elephants at lunchtime in Nsefu, and so had to wait an hour for them to finish grazing on the trees in camp before we could eat.

I would highly recommend your company’s services to anyone who wanted to experience a less touristy/high quality wildlife experience, with hassle free arrangements.

Hi Sue, just returned from South Africa – we had the most amazing holiday! Thank you so much for organising it! Our transfers were all on time and ran smoothly. Madikwe was great. Our guide Charles got us up close and personal with just about all the animals. He was very knowledgeable and great at getting us all involved rather than just sitting and spectating. We learnt a great deal about all sorts of animal behaviour, birds and plants. We saw all the big 5 plus more !

Black Rhino Lodge was very nice too, but in a different way. Accommodation was more up market and very swish as was the main lodge.

We couldn’t imagine that Ants Hill could surpass these, but it did! From arrival to leaving the staff couldn’t have been more helpful and friendly. Our bungalow was amazing with a fantastic view. Beautifully appointed with showers and bath and colourful cushions, very African! We were thoroughly spoilt by having tea and coffee brought to us in the morning. Then a great breakfast followed by horse riding.

The horses were lovely and we tried several out. Simon (who isn’t fussed by horses) fell in love with his Friesian horse Zaire. The guides were very good and extremely patient with the variety of rider skills. Fern met up with other girls of similar age and had an absolute ball haring about on horse back! We certainly felt we had arrived as guests and left as friends as their motto suggests.

Feeding the rhino was incredible too and made you painfully aware of the perilous state these animals face from poaching. Sorry such a long e-mail but so much to praise. We had an absolutely brilliant time. Thank you again and hopefully we will go back.

All the best

Excellent – would highly recommend our guide. He was a careful driver and respected the animal’s space (unlike some vehicles crowding in on them). He was polite, friendly, positioned the vehicle for good photo opportunities and shared our sense of humour.

We met people who were doing similar but in reverse – I think starting with Tarangire and ending in the Serengeti was the better way.

Excellent camps and lodges – lovely surroundings, views to take ones breath away and good feel at the tented camps in particular. Food was good and plentiful – the chef at Ndutu tented camp made the most delicious pastry ( vegetable quiche) I have ever tasted.

And finally – our first time using Tracks Safaris. Well done Sue in putting together a great itinerary with lodges and tented camps that were just spot on.

We found Tracks Safaris very helpful in the planning stage of our trip with a clear itinerary and costing from the outset both of which were kept to and delivered.

We would be very happy to recommend Tracks Safaris to other travellers planning a similar trip to Namibia.

I really appreciated the care with which our itinerary had been put together, even our guide commented on the excellent choice of lodges and being flown out of the Serengeti in a small plane which flew over the Crater was a super finale to a wonderful safari.

Our guide proved to be the perfect guide for us and it felt that we were on our safari holiday together, he was friendly, professional, knowledgeable and patient – we watched a Tree Climbing Lion for 2hrs in one instance. His excellent driving skills were much appreciated and I felt very safe in sometimes quite hairy situations.

Obviously the sightings of the animals cannot be predicted but we were lucky enough to have all our expectations met, including my hope to see a mother Cheetah and 2 week old cub. Leonace did his very best at all times to ensure we had the very best opportunities.

This was my first safari with Tracks Safaris and I cannot speak highly enough of how our trip was planned using first rate accommodation and a knowledgeable guide from a very reputable tour company. I will not hesitate to recommend Track Safaris for a quality well planned trip.

We have safely returned to a snowy and grey Aberdeenshire and I now have time to briefly comment on an excellent trip to Botswana and Zimbabwe.

Throughout the arrangements made for us worked faultlessly. Everyone was always cheerful, helpful and precise. In all the camps staff and guides were again brilliant.

Wildlife viewing was outstanding – in many cases as result of excellent and determined tracking and driving. Many young ungulates were seen as well as Kalahari Lions and the usual Oryx, Ellis and Giraffes. Highlights included:- Sitatunga, Roan Antelope, African Wild Cats x2, Genet, Serval, Honey Badger, Bush Baby, Leopards and wonderful Wild Dog encounters. In total, we saw 3 different packs in action at: Pom Pom, Kwara and Lagoon. We watched the Lagoon Dogs on 3 separate occasions:- on an Impala Hunt – which failed when the Impala swam across water to an island, next morning we saw a successful Warthog Kill and then watched them again that evening when they were all fed-up and lazy. This was beyond our expectations and what we could have hoped for. We spent a lot of time with Sylvester and the Elephants at Elephant Camp with interesting conversation with the trainers and handlers.I now have too many special photos and video clips which need some TLC and editing.

Thank you for putting together a super itinerary.

Best Regards,

Neil & Helen – Botswana and Zimbabwe

Hi Sue,

Firstly happy New Year! Got back to the office yesterday and slowly catching up with everything.

Wilderness were absolutely 100%. As always everything was fantastic and as I remembered it to be in the Okavango. Both Wilderness camps were super and staff were all polite, professional, and helpful. Special thanks to our guides Oris and Lesh at Xigera, and Moyo at Kwetsani for looking after us on our activities and not to mention the camp staff and management for making us feel at home.

Kristine’s main objective was to see a Leopard which we were able to see at both camps. We also saw one rare Sitatunga, two packs of Wild dog, three Lioness, one rare African Wild cat, several Buffalo, and of course loads of the other regulars animals.

One big highlight was seeing a small pack of wild dogs chasing a young leopard away from the kill they were just finishing, so very entertaining.
As for the birds, there were many, but the one I wanted to see again was the little Malachite kingfisher which we did. Also saw a rare little African Goshawk.

So truly an amazing trip and I can already see Kristine planning a trip during the Okavango’s flood season some time in the future.

Thanks and kind regards,

Hi Sue,

Happy New Year to you. Thought I would drop you a quick email to let you know we are back safely and that we made it to the summit of Mount Kenya, Point Lenana.

Also to say thank you so much for organising the trip. It was the holiday of a lifetime and everything went like clock work.

Your representatives were brilliant, always met us and made us feel very special and welcome. The climb was exceptional with a knowledgeable guide (Paul) and 5 trusty porters. We added on a safari from the beach and a tour in Nairobi which were both very cost effective and good fun.

We are now thinking about our next adventure : )

Many thanks for your help in making our trip so special for both of us. Hope to see you at the show in London later this year

As good as it gets!

Thanks to Sue, I had a great adventure in the Okavango, flying to Pom Pom Camp which was perfect for my requirements.

The setting and accommodation were wonderful, and I thoroughly enjoyed the game drives, and the mokoru trips. I was delighted to see leopard, lion, elephants, many types of antelope and interesting birdlife. The water lilies on the waterways of the delta were beautiful, while pied and malachite kingfishers fluttered overhead.

I went in October and luckily for me there were no mosquitos and I did not see one snake.

I travelled alone, the atmosphere was very friendly and the staff were excellent. My medical dietary requirements were charmingly catered for.

I have wonderful memories and photographs of my trip.’

I knew I wanted to go to South Luangwa Zambia but needed advice on which safari company, time of year and length of trip etc. Sue was most informative in a way that made me feel comfortable with her advice. No hard sell just hard facts from someone who had been and done it. The whole trip was well planned and most enjoyable.

When we planned for our first safari the first thing was to work out who we were going to stay with for a walking bush safari. Zambia and Norman Carr rose easily to the top of the pile.

The second was to find a UK based vendor who could answer our questions and hold the responsibility of our booking in a UK insured and secured environment. Tracks Safaris and Sue Preater provided the best first response to our inquiry and then went on to be helpful and detailed by email and passed the true test – phone calls.

We went on to meet Sue at a London travel show which put a face to the name. When you plan so far ahead and so far away having a responsive and personal connection becomes important. All the help we have received has been prompt and accurate – and Sue is known at Norman Carr for her regular flow of, what I hope are considered, good trekkers.

There is no formal word for those-that-go-on-safari although you hear enough clever collective nouns like towers of giraffes and murders of crows – but, whatever, we are happy and converted safarists and are going again with Sue and Tracks and Norman Carr in 2016.

And it’s all true!

Hi Sue,

We would both like to thank you for organising our wonderful holiday, everything went smoothly and we had the most fantastic time with the safari being the absolute highlight for both of us. we are both keen to go back to Africa again just need to save up.

We loved the intimate nature of the Cadogan and the grandeur of the Royal Livingstone. kirkmans Camp was just fabulous. We were their luckiest guests for a long time, we managed to see all Big 5 within the first 2 hours of our first game drive and the hunting dogs and their pups were also a highlight plus so much more besides, unforgettable.

It was by far and away the best holiday we have ever had and can’t imagine going back to the beach holiday format now.

I did the shark cage and was lucky with the weather, saw 10 different white sharks and also did the microlight over the falls which was stunning, thanks for the tip!

Happy to chat on the phone if you want to hear more – but WOW what a holiday!

Very best wishes

Dear Sue

We just returned from our safari which was absolutely amazing and exceeded our expectations. The lodges were good, food was good the drivers Moses and Daniel were excellent and answered all the questions the children asked in great detail, even to the extent to stopping at the roadside where a lion and lioness were “making babies” according to the children. Nothing was too much trouble for them to give us all an experience of a lifetime.

Rivertrees was lovely and the break after the flight was really appreciated to get us into the mood to cope with the long journeys and the roads ahead.

Just wanted to say a big thank you to you for your part in a very special trip.

Sincerely

Hi Sue,

Greetings from Tanzania! We just got back yesterday morning and it was by far the best trip we’ve ever done!

Thank you so much for all the arrangements, all the camps and hotels that we stayed in were very high standards in terms of accommondation, food, drinks and service.

Especially the Lemala camps were brilliant. We had very exciting time in Serengeti camp because of the nightly visitors. We had lions roaring and elephants having breakfast every night next to our tent : )

And we cannot praise enough our driver Philip Amon. His knowledge and expertise on safaris were amazing. He knew everything about the wildelife in the savannah and gave good induction to the Tanzanian culture by telling about his family and life. He played a big part in making the safari experience unforgettable. We were feeling very sentimental when saying goodbye in the Serengeti airstrip.

Also, our resort at Zanzibar was amazing and high quality throughout. As you can see, we could not be happier with our trip and your service.

Special thanks for the “honeymoon specials”. Us being newlyweds was recognised throughout our trip in very nice ways (and not just in champange!) It made everything even more special.

thanks again,

Dear Sue,

Immense thanks for arranging our holiday of a lifetime. It was always a pleasure to discuss our needs with you and the holiday that you put together for us and your personal attention and recommendations were fantastic. You were quite right about Wilderness Safaris, they proved to be the best company that we have ever travelled with in over 40 years of travelling throughout Africa. We have so many outstanding memories from seeing the elusive Pells Fishing Owl, a Nightjar on a log during the day to Leopard, Lion and large herds of Elephants. We even learned some Bushman skills and could go on forever but suffice to say it was all magical. Thank you.

Pat and I have just returned from 10 days in Tanzania and we would both like to say thank you for the most amazing holiday ever!

We would never in our wildest dream have thought we would see the wildebeest migration as they don’t usually leave the Masai Mara for at least another 2 months. The spectacle of thousands of these animals heading South was awe inspiring to say the least.

We were also fortunate enough to have a six vehicle jeep between the two of us for the whole duration which again, ensured that we were able to see everything whenever we wanted … The sight of all the different animals encountered will stay with us forever. The Serengeti is the most magical place on earth for me personally, and I certainly have every intention of returning if my finances allow.

Thank you once again for organising our “bucket list” holiday of a lifetime.

Hi Sue – Just back this morning. Sri Lanka was amazing!

You were spot on with Gayan, who really did make the difference between a good trip and a great one. We were first in the park each morning at Yala and managed to photograph 15 different leopards as well as 4 sloth bears, and all the usual deer, birds buffalo and elephants. It was truly an amazing place.
All in all a brilliant trip and Gayan has conviced us we need to go back again for him to take us further North next time!

Hi Sue,

I am just back from my extended travels. Dad and I LOVED our safari. It was excellent.

Overall

This was a brilliant, once in a lifetime, holiday with experiences that were straight out of National Geographic or BBC animal documentaries, we saw the big five and many many more animals as well as being able to identify 152 species of birds. Our Guide (Justice) was hugely knowledgeable about the locations, animals and birds and endlessly patient with our questions or desire to watch baby elephants for hours on end!

Best Bits

The accommodation at the parks was wonderful really top notch, our favourite (I am sure you will not be surprised) was the Elephants Bedroom. This small friendly, flexible location with excellent accommodation set a standard that was unbeatable. Likewise we enjoyed the very similar ‘Hippo’ venue.

Our Guide (Justice) was patient, fun and incredibly knowledgeable, he asked what we wanted to see early on and used his experience and relationships with other guides to ensure we saw everything. As I told you before we went my father was particularly interested in the Birds, whether by design or accident, Justice was also very interested in Birds and therefore very knowledgeable about them. This really added to our experience. If possible, this is something that should be played up in future (linking groups and guides with similar interests).

We got back from our 4 week African adventure last Thursday and I wanted to let you know that everything went as planned, including all flights and transfers, and all our accommodation was excellent.

I also wanted to take the opportunity to thank you for all your help and advice in putting together our holiday package. Your input was invaluable and the service you provided was exceptional. Your suggestion of visiting Mafia Island was inspired by the way – I learned to scuba dive there!
The holiday itself was everything we hoped it would be and much more. It was an amazing and unforgettable experience. I don’t think we have come back down to earth yet!

Finally, thank you very much for the book you sent us. That was a very kind thought. I’d have no hesitation in recommending your services to any of our friends or family who might have a similar holiday in mind.

My Kruger trip was great. I really appreciated the ease of the transfer and flight to Skukuza. The lodge was lovely, with great staff and food, but my absolute highlight was Plains Camp. I adored the remoteness of the camp and the feeling of peace and tranquility, while also enjoying the beautiful tent and amazing food. The walking was magical and gives you a completely different experience – tracking (and finding) rhino on foot is something I’ll never forget. The guide was amazing, enabling you to experience a feeling of vulnerability whilst knowing that you are completely safe. And the sleep out was an experience not to be missed. I could go on!!!

I would happily have spent a week at Plains Camp – and fully intend to return one day. Once again thank you for arranging such an unforgettable experience. I look forward to the next one!

Our children, aged 12 and 10, and ourselves have just returned from safari in Tanzania followed by a short beach stay in Zanzibar. All the travel arrangements went like clockwork, the hotels were superb and our driver and vehicle were excellent. We saw (and took hundreds of photographs of) amazing animals, birds, bugs and plant life as well as stunning scenery! The opportunity to see and experience other cultures and ways of living have made a real impression on the children. Travelling in the wet season did not have an impact on the wildlife we saw and the thunderstorms added to the drama and adventure! Zanzibar was beautiful. Thanks to Tracks Safaris we have had the adventure of a lifetime and are already saving to experience another of their incredible journeys.

The planning and organisation of the holiday by Tracks was superb. Everything went like clockwork from beginning to end, with no difficulties or hitches at any point. Wherever we arrived there was somebody to meet us and sort us out.

I’d be happy to recommend your company to anybody who was thinking of taking a similar holiday, and I’d llike to express our thanks for the way you organised everything. I said that this was probably a one-off because of the cost, but I have to say that I’ve now got the safari bug, and I will be having another look at our holiday arrangements in the future! Don’t be surprised if you hear from me again sometime!

We booked the Black Leopard 14 day Safari via Track Safaris plus a trip to Victoria Falls. The holiday was very well organised and it went like clockwork. We have been to South Africa 6 times now. But this was very different and the best trip yet.

Black Leopard Camp is a wonderful place to visit. We will certainly look at using Tracks Safaris again.

Thank you, Sue, for organising our honeymoon to Tanzania and Zanzibar. The itinerary and the accommodation you recommended were superb and our guide Moses was fun, attentive and knowledgeable. We learnt to dive in Zanzibar and will always treasure our honeymoon memories.

Our holiday was unforgettable for all the best reasons. If we decide to return to Southern Africa we would certainly choose Wilderness Safaris as our Travel Operator. We were also impressed by the quality of service we received form Tracks Safaris as the UK agent.

I just had to mail to say a huge thank you!! It truly was the trip of a lifetime, exceeding all my expectations. I even tracked gorillas four times in the end!

Volcanoes were amazing, both the lodges and staff. It was the perfect choice for me. I will definitely be in touch when I next head to Africa!

Sue, Having returned on Wednesday from our holiday to Botswana I want to tell you what a great time we had. We started it off very well by finding at Maun that we had the same guide Easy as we had 3 years ago when we did this holiday. We were so pleased to see him again and he was so surprised and pleased also to see us. He was so good to us over the whole holiday.

We saw so much wildlife. It was truly incredible. The meals at the camps were really good and we were really looked after. We had not camped before the last trip but this is different camping lying in bed listening to hippos and lions just great.Everything went without a hitch. We did enjoy also the last day in Zimbabwe. The lodge was excellent, very luxurious our room having a view over the Zambesi too . The Victoria Falls are better from the Zimbabwe side to the Zambia side we visited last time. You see much more of them. They are incredible. All in all a fantastic holiday. Thank you for arranging it.
